Nart Risk Managment Forum

NART Risk Management Forum 2006 was carried out on November 2, 2006 Thursday in the Teşvikiye-located Conference Room of the Milli Reasürans Corporation. The subjects covered within the forum, quite traditional and, which is considered as a source of reference for the sector of insurance, were the Credit insurances and the Management of receivables.

The inaugural speeches of the meeting were made by Mr. Yves-Marie Laouenan, president of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Turkey and Mr. Teoman Yelkencioğlu, president of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Turkey.

With the representatives of the Coface, Euler-Hermes and Atradius companies, which are the three big players dominating 70% of the world market relating to the credit insurances, one of the best means for the safeguard of receivables, the meeting collected approximately 300 industrialists and businessmen.

In his speech treating the Effects of the BASEL II on the Risks of Credit in Turkey and in the World, Mr. İsmail YANIK, member of the Board of the Turkish Economy Bank, provided some information about the points to which the industrialists and the businessmen were to pay attention during the adoption of the European Union regulations in Turkey for its coherence process.

In his speech a General View to the Credit insurances, Mr. Levent Nart, president of the Board of the Nart Sigorta ve Reasürans Brokerliği, the firm arranging the organization, briefly presented the Nart Sigorta ve Reasürans Brokerliği company which furnishes services to 25.000 institutional and individual people and then invited the international credit insurers to the chair in order to make their speeches.

The following representatives of the international credit insurance companies made satisfactory presentations introducing their companies and explaining the trend of the credit insurances both in the world and Turkey. The credit insurers, confronted with intense questions coming from the businessmen, showed in their answers at which point the credit insurances are important for the industrialists in Turkey to protect the receivables.

After the successive speeches of Mr. Jean-Christophe BATLLE, business development and international organization director of Euler Hermes SFAC, and Mr. Nicolas GARCIA, director of international sale and product of Euler Hermes SFAC, spoke about credit insurance works of Euler Hermes, the company having the greatest world share of the market, Mr. Thomas DIETZ, underwriter within the ATRADIUS insurance company, mentioned the role of the credit insurances during the protection of the value of the stockholders' equity and explained that their Turkey offices will be open in 2007. Mr. Joachim FRIEDRICH, person in charge for the International Department and Marketing of Customers of the International Coface Co. Group, presented Coface and mentioned applications and works of their firm, which is leader in the Turkish market.

Following the speeches made by international credit insurers, Levent Nart, the president of the company Nart Sigorta ve Reasürans Brokerliği, acting as an intermediary representing the Customers at the time of the presentation of these services to the industrialists and businessmen, stressed the fact that the subject of credit insurance constitutes itself a field of insurance. The reason owing to the fact that 70% of the world market in the field of credit insurance are divided between three large companies, whereas there are more in other fields of insurance, was explained by excessive information and data infrastructure requirements. Mr. Elchanan J. LANGE, director of International Advisors, the last speaker of the meeting, presented his international company engaged at the collection of receivables and spoke afterwards about the services that they furnish in Turkey.

At the last stage of the forum, a discussion panel was carried out about the Advantages that the Companies Will obtain from Credit Insurances. During this interrogatory panel, the questions of the guests were answered
